Ancient Seas, Middle Miocene to end of Pliocene eras, ca. 28 to 2.6 million years ago. This is a fossilized tooth from a prehistoric megalodon shark - the largest fish or shark to ever exist - and this monster has a wonderful coral formation on the root! The enamel is a smoky gray-blue, unpolished and naturally lustrous; the serrations along the peripheries are largely intact - running from the tip to root along the classic V shape. The root is a matte black hue, and a piece of white coral has attached to the obverse face - a testament to the tooth's time spend at the bottom of the ocean. This is a stellar example of what the forces of nature and the processes of fossilization can do! Size: 5.5" L x 3.85" W (14 cm x 9.8 cm); 5.5" H (14 cm) on included custom stand.
