Description:

North America or Siberia, Pleistocene (Ice Age), ca. 400,000 to 10,000 years ago. A cut cross-section from a massive tusk from a prehistoric mammoth, crushed turquoise flakes inlaid in the pressure fissures that formed over the years. The cut reveals the inner dentine with the characteristic Schreger lines that appear in Elephantidae ivory. The name "mammoth" comes from a Siberian word used to describe the tusks found there by native people of the Irtysh River basin. Mammoths are one of the most memorable examples of Ice Age megafauna that most people will instantly recognize; their tusks are a special part of any prehistoric and fossil collection! Size: 4.5" Diameter x 2" W (11.4 cm x 5.1 cm)

This is an ESA antique exempt piece of mammoth ivory and cannot be sold to certain countries and anyone residing in the states of California, Hawaii, Illinois, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Washington.
