Description:

Eastern Europe, Russia, Western Siberia, Yamal Peninsula and Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug (District), Permian Animal Style / Early Viking Rus, ca. 5th to 10th century CE. A lovely bronze pendant, designed to make a jingling sound and catch light when hanging from a saddle or belt. The form is of two horses' heads back to back, with finely-detailed manes and faces, with a central perforated suspension loop in-between. The pendant has six dangling chains with varying numbers of small chain links, each ending in a three-toed crow's foot - a popular decorative element in this culture. The surface is covered in a lovely emerald-green patina. Size: 2.125" W x 3.875" H (5.4 cm x 9.8 cm).
