Description:

Russia, Western Siberia, Yamal Peninsula and Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug (District), Permian Animal Style / Early Viking Rus, ca. 5th to 10th century CE. A finely-detailed bronze pendant consisting of a sun-like, concave boss and four dangling bird-feet pendants. Pendants of this style are common from this time and place, where ornamentation often focused on animals - but, rather than depicting full animals, it focused on individual aspects, like feet, beaks, claws, etc., that seem to have had importance to the cultural interpretation of these animals. These feet have thick webbing suggest a duck, or some other waterfowl. Size: 1.6" W x 2.15" H (4.1 cm x 5.5 cm)
