Borre style is a Viking art form that emerged in the late 9th to 10th century, characterized by intricate knotwork, gripping-beast motifs, and symmetrical interlacing patterns. Originating from the region around Borre, Norway, it became widespread throughout the Norse world. Key features include animal forms with gripping paws, stylized braids, and interwoven elements, often used in jewelry, weapons, and other decorative items. The alternating ribbed beads showcase Viking artistry, with two of them further adorned with applied raised circles, a detail that speaks to the jeweler's skill and attention to high-status ornamentation. The craftsmanship suggests these pendants were created by a master artisan, indicating their use by a prominent figure within Viking society The unique motifs and fine detailing make this strand an impressive example of Viking artistry and spiritual expression, embodying the strength and status of its wearer.
