Roman Empire, eastern Mediterranean, ca. 1st to 3rd centuries CE. Ancient light green glass pitcher / jug with a round, slightly raised foot, a wide flared lip, and fine glass threads wrapped around the body. After the invention of blown glass in the first century CE, glass became easy to mass produce as well as cheaper, and so glass items entered everyday Roman life for the majority of householders; a small vessel like this one may have been used for pouring olive oil. Size: 5" H (12.7 cm)
