Description:

Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico to Guatemala, Maya, Late Classic Period, ca. 550 to 900 CE. A lovely amulet of a wide conical form, hand-carved from mottled green-hued stone with white and beige inclusions. The amulet depicts a stylized human countenance with coffee-bean-shaped eyes, a petite nose, drooping cheeks, full lips, and deep nasolabial folds, all beneath a crested headdress with a couple of incised crescent-shaped grooves. Atop the head is a biconically drilled suspension hole that enables it for wear on a necklace or bracelet. Size: 0.75" W x 1.4" H (1.9 cm x 3.6 cm).
