Description:

Pre-Columbian, Central Peru, Inca Empire, ca. 1200 to 1532 CE. A wonderful textile sling (known as a honda) comprised of tightly woven natural fibers with lengthy lateral strands and a split central projectile holder. The projectile holder is decorated with repeating stripes in hues of burgundy, saffron yellow, forest green, and black. Size: 87.5" L x 0.6" W (222.2 cm x 1.5 cm).

Provenance: private Allison collection, Kent, Washington, USA, inherited in the mid-1970s
