Pre-Columbian, Northern Mexico, Chihuahua region, Ancestral Pueblo / Greater Mogollon, Casas Grandes culture, ca. 1200 to 1450 CE. A superb polychrome pottery dish of a petite form. The interior is decorated with mesmerizing geometric motifs that are split into four quadrants - contrasting sharp angles and stepped shapes, with gentle curves. The exterior features interlocking black and red on the buff slip. Size: 5.8" Diameter x 1.5" H (14.7 cm x 3.8 cm)

Provenance: Estate of Peter H. Tillou Collection, thence by descent. Acquired in the 1990s, collection # 147. Appraised by Marianne Huber in 2014.
