Southeast Asia, Indonesia, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A forged-iron kris with a gentle serpentine profile, a raised naga serpent coursing along the spine and shoulder, and 80% gold gilding to accentuate certain details. The hand-carved wooden handle depicts a curved phytomorphic form, and beneath is a brass spacer disc laden with granules. The wooden guard protector rests atop the blade housing within the 80% silver sheath jacket, with the front of the jacket being adorned in engraved floral motifs.   • Condition: Wooden guard protector is slightly loose atop sheath jacket. Minor abrasions and softening to blade, with minor damage to spacer disc and its granules, and light indentations to verso of sheath jacket. Great patina throughout and nice remains of gilding on blade.
