Description:

Eastern Europe, Neolithic Period, ca. late 4th to early 3rd millennium BCE. A hand-built ceramic vase with a petite circular base and a wide midsection tapering to a cylindrical neck with an uneven rim. The exterior is adorned with a series of black-painted linear motifs atop a pale-orange ground. This vessel represents some of the earliest ceramic traditions in Europe, with the Neolithic period defined by the gradual development of agriculture and pottery. Size: 4.9" W x 4.125" H (12.4 cm x 10.5 cm).

  • Condition: Repaired from multiple pieces with small chips and light adhesive residue along break lines. Minor nicks and abrasions to rim, body, and base, with fading to original pigmentation, and light encrustations inside vessel. Nice earthen deposits throughout.
