Description:

Western Europe, probably England or France, Neoclassical Period, ca. 18th to early 19th century CE. A lovely pair of wearable earrings shaped from 66.4% to 74.8% gold (equivalent to 15K+) with ovoid bodies suspended from high-arching French hook ear wires. Set within the central bezels are large agate cameos depicting two cream-hued Erotes that protrude from the vermilion surfaces. The first Erote faces to the right and holds a petite recurve bow, and the second Erote faces to the left while reaching downwards towards a short phytomorphic form. Size of each (both are relatively similar): 0.8" W x 1.25" H (2 cm x 3.2 cm); quality of gold: 66.4% to 74.8% (equivalent to 15K+); total weight: 12.5 grams.

  • Condition: Wearable as shown. Minor abrasions to bodies and cameos, with slight bending to overall form of ear wires, and light softening to some Erote details, otherwise intact and very good. Nice detailing to Erotes. Cameos etched on back with letters and "256."
