Description:

Continental Europe, ca. early 20th century CE. A section of an anatomical model of a human head comprised of painted plaster, showing various, numbered muscle groups of the face as well as a blue glass eye and skin covered ear on one side, and on the verso, the interior nasal and oral cavities as well as a section of spine. Plaster models represented the next stage in teaching about the human body that had begun in the late 1700s with the creation of wax models. Students could now learn about their biological systems from these models rather than a smelly, dissected corpse! Size: 8.75" L x 3.5" W x 6.25" H (22.2 cm x 8.9 cm x 15.9 cm)
