Description:

Etruria, northern Italy, Etrusco-Corinthian, ca. 630 to 540 BCE. A tall and slender polychrome alabastron - used for holding perfumes and scented oils - with a planar base and a piriform body that rises to a flat rim with an applied handle. The body is decorated with a pair of thick, crimson-hued bands, each enclosed by two dark-brown bands, all atop a beige-hued ground. The slender neck displays a repeating decorative register of elongated tongues stemming from a thin upper stripe of brown, and both rim and handle are painted with a similar espresso hue. A nice example! Size: 6.125" H (15.6 cm).
