Description:

Italy, Etruscan culture, ca. 768 to 264 BCE. A black Bucchero ware cup in excellent condition for its age. The cup has a flared form, with a flanged, scalloped base above a narrow leg and round foot. The lower body has three fine lines incised around it, and, aside from the scalloping, no other decoration, giving it an elegant, simple appearance. Bucchero is a specifically Etruscan style for firing pottery which results in a smooth, shiny black finish. This cup may have been made solely to be buried with offerings, as was the case for much fine Etruscan pottery. Size: 5.45" W x 3.25" H (13.8 cm x 8.3 cm)
