Description:

Classical World, Italy, Etruria, ca. 768 to 264 BCE. A gorgeous wheel-thrown pottery oinochoe with an incised ring around the base, expanding walls, a sloped shoulder that tapers to a cylindrical neck, a projecting 'beak' spout - hence the name 'beaked oinochoe' - and a slender handle arching between spout and shoulder. The exterior surfaces of the sharply angled body - save for beneath the base - are covered in lustrous black glaze that imbue the vessel with a classic Etruscan presentation!
