Description:

Europe, Viking or Medieval / Byzantine periods, ca. 9th to 11th century CE. A group of seven bronze crosses and one white bronze icon of the Great Martyr Nikita beating a demon. All have loops for suspension. Four have inlaid enamel, all bright yellow and white. Each cross is unique, some ornate, some simpler. Pendants from this period made of bronze would have been accessible to many people, and crosses like these seem to have been popular items of personal adornment across the Christian world. Each of these has a functional loop for suspension and could be worn today. Size of largest (all are fairly similar in size): 1.7" H (4.3 cm)
