Mediterranean, Egyptian-Romano to Byzantine era, ca. 3rd century BCE to 6th century CE. Ancient glass and stone beads strung on modern gold-plated silver ear hooks and band as a matching and wearable set of earrings and a ring. The ring is comprised of a modern U-shaped band 96% silver plated with gold wire filigree and a pretty carnelian bead at the center flanked by two golden glass beads. The earrings are assembled on pin findings and secured to modern 85% to 90% silver and gold plated ear hooks. In antiquity these golden beads were fabricated by layering colorless glass over gold foil. Size of earring w/ hook: 1.65" L (4.2 cm); carnelian bead: 0.25" Diameter (0.6 cm); ring band opening: 0.75" Diameter (1.9 cm); US ring size: 7.5; silver quality: 85% to 96%; gold quality: 1%; total combined weight: 5.7 grams
