Ancient Egypt, Old Kingdom, 6th Dynasty, Pepi II, ca. 2278 to 2184 BCE. A very rare find - a cow horn with an inked inscription on its interior curve and a cartouche bearing the throne name of Pepi II, reading 'The Good God, Lord of the Two Lands, Neferkare [‘Beautiful is the Soul of Re], Given Life for Eternity'; possibly a votive dedication. A fascinating artifact from the earliest days of pharaonic Egypt. Size: 2.2" W x 7.4" H (5.6 cm x 18.8 cm); 8.3" H (21.1 cm) on included custom stand.
