Description:

Ancient Egypt, Late Dynastic to Ptolemaic Period, ca. 664 to 30 BCE. A gorgeous faience sculpture of Isis, goddess of magic and healing, seated atop a slender throne while holding her infant son, Horus, in her arms. The dignified deity sits with legs neatly placed in front of her, with one hand held to her breast, and the other supporting the bottom and/or back of her son as she feeds him. The sides of the throne are elegantly decorated with dense fish scale patterns, and the entire composition is enveloped in layers of turquoise-hued glaze. Size: 2.21" L x 1.01" W x 3.79" H (5.6 cm x 2.6 cm x 9.6 cm); 5.59" H (14.2 cm) on included custom stand.

  • Condition: Losses to crown, left arm, most of Horus figure, nose, and right elbow as shown. Minor softening to some finer details, with light earthen deposits, otherwise in great condition. Wonderful preservation to most finer elements and great glaze pigment remains!
