Egypt, Late Period, 600-300 BCE. A fine pair of flat-back amulets, probably from the same ensemble, both sons of Horus. On right, Hapy the baboon-headed protector of the lungs, depicted mummiform with both hands grasping a cloth. 2"H. Pierced for suspension. On left, human-headed Imsety, protector of the the liver of the deceased and guardian of the South, depicted mummiform, with both hands grasping a cloth. He was protected by the goddess Isis. Size: Just under 2"H.

Provenance: Ex-Belgian art market, acquired in the early 1980's.
