Roman, Eastern Empire, Holy Land, Imperial Period, ca. 3rd to 4th century CE. The rounded lamp sits atop a circular foot and has concentric rings surrounding the fill hole, a loop handle folded up and over the back edge, and a tapered neck with a recessed groove encircling the front of the wick spout. Traces of white and red pigment are visible atop the body and illustrate how vibrant pigment was at one time used to adorn this lamp. Size: 3.9" L x 2.25" W x 1.7" H (9.9 cm x 5.7 cm x 4.3 cm); 4.6" H (11.7 cm) on included custom stand.
