Description:

East Asia, China, late Qing Dynasty to Republic era, ca. 19th to 20th century CE. An ornate Shoushan stamp seal topped with a dynamic carving of a dragon and a mythical Pixiu beast. Chinese characters are inscribed on two of the vertical sides, while a bamboo motif is etched onto another. The seal face is carved in the "yang wen" or "zhuwen" style, meaning the characters are in relief, designed to be inked for an imprint. These impressive seals were historically used as signatures and played a crucial role in legitimizing important documents. Size: 1.4" L x 1.4" W x 5.5" H (3.6 cm x 3.6 cm x 14 cm)
