Description:

Native American, Southwestern United States, Akimel O'odham (Pima) or Tohono O'odham (Papago), ca. early 20th century CE. A coiled cylindrical basket crafted from natural plant fibers such as willow, sumac, and/or devil's claw. The foundation coils are formed from bundled leaves and stitched with splints in a darker brown to create a repeating pattern. While the exterior surface is faded, the interior reveals more clearly the abstracted form. Size: 7.6" Diameter x 6.25" H (19.3 cm x 15.9 cm)
