Description:

Central America, Panama, San Blas Islands, Kuna Indians, ca. first half of the 20th century CE. A hand-carved wooden canoe with pointed ends, a petite flattened base, and a carved interior with a small drilled hole meant to hold a carved wooden doll. Small areas of the interior and most of the exterior are painted with black pigment, and traces of blue pigment are visible along areas of the upper ridge. Size: 13" L x 2.25" W x 3.1" H (33 cm x 5.7 cm x 7.9 cm).
