Description:

Central Asia, India, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A fine set of two hammered steel chakram, circular throwing weapons with sharpened exterior and blunt interior edges. The chakram is an ancient weapon that is effectively used when flung off one's index finger at high speeds. The first chakram - made by Vishnu out of remaining dust used to craft the sun - was named "Sudarshan Chakra," meaning "vision of that which is auspicious, to do movement." Therefore, the chakram was essentially a tool for clearing a path to God. One chakram is decorated on one side with a trio of projecting tridents. Size of each (both are relatively similar): 9.4" Diameter (23.9 cm).
