Description:

South Pacific, Hawaiian Islands, ca. early 20th century CE. A hand-carved wooden bust of a tiki with a gently corseted torso and an elongated head. The eyes are inlaid with hemispherical shell fragments that bulge out from the sockets, and the broad nose and shallow lips are presented beneath. The wood exhibits smooth surfaces that are pleasing to the touch and suggest that this piece was displayed outdoors. Size: 4" W x 12" H (10.2 cm x 30.5 cm); 14.75" H (37.5 cm) on included custom stand.
