Africa, Nigeria, Igbo peoples, early 20th century CE. This is a hand carved painted wood maskette that would have been worn as a headdress. It features a smaller head atop a narrow post, worn as a headdress to the headdress. Xzibit would be proud. This particular piece seems incomplete and has not been carved out to be worn. There are drilled holes around the edges to attach perishable items like raffia, quills, or feathers. Size: 3.75" W x 17" H (9.5 cm x 43.2 cm)
