Description:

Greek colonies, Italy, Apulia/Daunian, ca. 300 BCE. A nicely preserved terracotta kylix, a drinking cup, with a shallow bowl, two flat handles extending from near the thick rim, and a disc foot. Black glaze - now aged to a fine silvery iridescence - forms concentric circles on the interior, on the rim, and around the exterior body. Daunian society was a mixture of native Italians and Greeks who had settled in the area, with their pottery influenced by both cultures. Size: 7.7" W x 2.1" H (19.6 cm x 5.3 cm)
