Description:

Ancient Greece, Cyprus, ca. first half of the 1st millennium BCE. A lovely wheel-thrown pottery plate with a slightly concave base, wide walls, a shallow basin, and a thick rim with a pair of applied arching handles. The underside is adorned with several rings of concentric circles and a cross-hatched triangular pattern around a central red ring that resembles a compass rose. The rim, handles, and interior also have painted thin linear bands, all in black slip that has aged to chocolate brown. Size: 12.45" W x 1.45" H (31.6 cm x 3.7 cm)
