Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Zacatecas, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. An adorable, hand-built terracotta zoomorphic drug container in the form of a quadruped jaguar with a large spouted opening sprouting from its back. The figure boasts tall, ovoid ears, almond-shaped eyes, and an open mouth bearing teeth and tongue, standing atop four legs which stem from a hollow body, with a sinuous tail wrapped around its posterior and a ringed collar around its thick neck. The burnished surface displays hues of light-brown, white, and black, making this a lovely earthtone vessel from ancient West Mexico! Size: 3.5" L (8.9 cm).
