Pre-Columbian, Central America, Costa Rica, ca. 600 to 1200 CE. A hand-built pottery vessel depicting a small mammal called a peccary (javelina in Spanish). The head bears deep eyes, an upturned snout, and a spout atop the brow, and the plump body is supported by a quartet of thick, nubbin legs. Size: 7.1" L x 3.25" W x 5.875" H (18 cm x 8.3 cm x 14.9 cm)
