Pre-Columbian, Costa Rica, ca. 400-700 CE. Graceful La Selva tripod terracotta vase from the Atlantic Watershed region of Costa Rica. The vessel is supported by three long, hollow rattle legs. Straddling two of the legs are zoomorphic creatures, perhaps monkeys or jaguars, with long tails or perhaps taking a poop. The vase is elongated with a lovely corseted neck. 8.13"W x 6.75"H (20.64 W x 17.15 H cm) Provenance: Ex-Private collection, Denver, CO. Ex-Arte Primitivo.
