Central America, Costa Rica, ca. 800 to 1200 CE. A handbuilt polychrome terracotta double chambered vessel in hues of red, black, beige, and white, the form comprised of two conjoined ollas, their bodies fused and their rims linked via a strap handle. The surface of each olla is adorned with a face that is delineated with applied facial features and the paint. Size: 6" x 3" x 2-3/4" (15.2 x 7.6 x 7 cm)

Provenance: Ex-private Olan collection, California, by family descent, acquired 1960 to 1970.
