Description:

Pre-Columbian, Costa Rica, Guanacaste / Nicoya region, ca. 1 to 500 CE. A stunning celt pendant carved from a jade stone of brilliant dark green hues with subtle inclusions of azure, orange, maroon, coral, and violet, its face presenting partially drilled eyes, a flat triangular nose, a wide mouth with large lips, broad chest with arms bent and hands folded across, squat legs and stylized feet with a zig-zag band across the ankles. A raised band of stone is visible on the back where the smaller stone piece was separated from the larger stone. Drilled through the top of head and through neck for suspension. Size: 1.125" W x 2.375" H (2.9 cm x 6 cm).
