Pre-Columbian, Colombia, Highland Narino region, Tuza cultural complex, Narino culture, ca. 1250 to 1500 CE. A hand-built and highly burnished pottery jar with a flared foot, a piriform body, a tapered shoulder, and a flared rim. The beige-hued exterior is decorated in black negative resist geometric motifs while bands of red pigment accentuate several areas around the exterior. Size: 8" Diameter x 10.25" H (20.3 cm x 26 cm)

  • Condition: Repair to rim and stabilization to a few fissures on body, with light adhesive residue along break lines. Minor abrasions and fading to pigment, with expected pitting, and light earthen deposits, otherwise in great condition. Nice preservation to geometric motifs.
