Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built pottery figure depicted in a seated pose with crossed legs and a forward-leaning pose. Attenuated arms project from rounded shoulders, with the left hand posed in an explanatory, almost story-telling manner. The head is decorated with an intricate wrap-style headdress and the base of a shamanic horn rests directly above the central brow. A small hole behind the head acts as a whistle mouthpiece, and the figure produces a high-pitched sound when used. Custom wooden display stand included. Size: 2" W x 2.5" H (5.1 cm x 6.4 cm); 3.25" H (8.3 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private Southern California, USA collection, acquired in the 1970s to mid-1980s
