Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A fine trio of hand-built pottery figures, 2 nude females and 1 clothed male, all shown standing with flattened bodies, broad shoulders, and elongated heads. Each wears a headband or headdress and holds arms to their sides as they gaze forward from ovoid eyes. Gently bending his knees, the male wears a loincloth and sash, while the females both exhibit raised breasts and delineated genitalia. Size of largest (male): 4.3" W x 8" H (10.9 cm x 20.3 cm)

Provenance: ex-Nancy and Dr. E.F. Simpson collection, Los Angeles, California, USA, acquired from 1970 to 2000
