Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, Autlan variety, Protoclassic Period, ca. 100 BCE to 250 CE. A hand-built and highly-burnished redware pottery female figure seated with open legs atop a rounded base. She wears an incised skirt around her waist and lower body, holds her bangle-adorned arms out to the sides of her smooth chest and perky breasts, and has an applied 'bead' necklace embellishing her gently-sloping neck. Her stylized countenance boasts incised almond-shaped eyes, a broad nose, an incised mouth curled into a smile, and thick bangs draped over her ears, all beneath a simple cap with a rounded brim. Size: 2.375" L x 3.8" W x 5.625" H (6 cm x 9.7 cm x 14.3 cm); 6.4" H (16.3 cm) on included custom stand.
