Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Chupicuaro, ca. 500 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built pottery standing figure of a distinctly 'flat' form. The nude figure presents with delineated legs, attenuated arms adorned with circular pads, and a belly that sags slightly over the waistline. The bulbous head features a prominent nose, coffee-bean-shaped eyes, discoid earspools colored with vermilion pigment, rounded cheeks, and a finely incised coiffure on the top. Lengthy locks of hair curl around the ears and are held within the corners of the mouth. Size: 2.2" W x 3.2" H (5.6 cm x 8.1 cm); 3.7" H (9.4 cm) on included custom stand.
