Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Chupicuaro, ca. 500 to 100 BCE; Michoacan, ca. 1350 to 1521 CE. A set of 3 hand-built pottery vessels from ancient Mexico. The Chupicuaro jar is of spherical form with red columns surrounding the upper body, and the larger Chupicuaro bowl features a band of black exterior decorations above the scalloped midsection and trio of rattle feet. The spherical Michoacan jar is of petite size and exhibits abstract avian and linear motifs across the dark-brown exterior. Size of largest (footed bowl): 6.21" W x 2.75" H (15.8 cm x 7 cm)

  • Condition: Footed bowl with restoration to center of basin and repair to 1 rattle foot; Michoacan jar with repair to rim and neck; Chupicuaro jar is intact. Each with light abrasions and earthen deposits, scattered spalls, and minor fading to pigment, otherwise in nice condition. Great coloration throughout.
