Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Guanajuato River Valley, Chupicuaro, ca. 500 to 300 BCE. An oh so sweet and petite redware, round-bottomed face vessel presenting coffee bean shaped eyes, a pointy upturned nose, and pursed but slightly parted lips - as if whistling - on one side, and tiny looped handles bridging raised rim to shoulders, all covered in that saturated red glaze characteristic of the Chupicuaro. Size: 2.125" in diameter x 1.75" H (5.4 cm x 4.4 cm)
