Description:

Pre-Columbian, Panama, Chiriqui culture, ca. 300 to 1500 CE. A breathtaking, finely cast gold shaman pendant from ancient Panama. The shaman stands with slightly bent legs and extended arms, bent at the elbows, holding spiraling rope in his hands, with felines featuring open, toothy grins attached to the rope. Nude except for a belt around his waist, with his nipples and penis boldly delineated. He stares ahead with an impassioned expression, his visage featuring bulging eyes, a prominent nose, and a wide, full-lipped mouth with four teeth showing, and knife-edged top and bottom teeth. With an integral loop behind the neck, this is a fabulous piece of wearable art! Size: 2.31" W x 3.25" H (5.9 cm x 8.3 cm); gold quality: 73% to 75% (equivalent to 17K+ to 18K); weight: 52 grams
