Description:

East Asia, China, Western Zhou Dynasty, pre-Eastern Zhou Transition period, ca. 1046 to 771 BCE. A large storage vessel of a globular form comprised of buff grey pottery with a round but stable base, an apple-shaped body, a rounded shoulder, and a squat, flared rim. The exterior of the vessel is covered with dense impressed designs in linear and square motifs which give the surface an intriguing texture. A wonderful example with a mesmerizing array of impressed decorative patterns from this very early historical era in ancient China. Size: 11" W x 9.5" H (27.9 cm x 24.1 cm).

This piece has been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) and has been found to be ancient and of the period stated. A full report will accompany purchase.
