Originally offered at $400...

East Asia, China, Eastern Zhou Dynasty, Warring States Period to Han Dynasty, ca. 475 BCE to 220 CE. A fine and intact leaded bronze tool with a flared spade head and thick, cylindrical handle. The flattened head rests almost at a ninety-degree angle from the handle with a deep heel- ideal for using as a scoop or as a charcoal or dustpan, or a scoop for incense or rice. The elegantly flared tip and material suggesting this was used in a wealthy domestic or temple setting, and the hollow handle was perhaps hafted to a wooden pole for greater leverage. This tool is intact and has a wonderful green patina throughout! Size: 7" L x 4.5" W (17.8 cm x 11.4 cm)
