East Asia, China, Han Dynasty, ca. 206 BCE to 220 CE. A mold-made pottery hen depicted seated with wings tucked to the sides as a petite chick sits atop its back, all enveloped in creamy white pigment with liberal remains of black-painted plumes and details. Her lengthy neck slants slightly backwards, culminating in a petite head with a pointed beak, while her flared tail extends upwards from her posterior. Size: 6.2" L x 4.1" W x 5.5" H (15.7 cm x 10.4 cm x 14 cm)

This piece has been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) analysis and has been found to be ancient and of the period stated. A full printed and bound report is available to the buyer upon request.
