Description:

East Asia, China, Warring States Period, ca. 475 to 221 BCE. A large wheel-thrown pottery storage jar with a flat base, rounded walls with an angled shoulder, a deep interior cavity, and a collared rim fit to hold a lid. The exterior of the body is covered with an impressed lattice pattern which creates a rough gripping texture in the absence of handles. A fine example of ancient utilitarian pottery vessels! Size: 8.5" W x 5.625" H (21.6 cm x 14.3 cm).

  • Condition: Original lid missing. Surface wear and abrasions commensurate with age, small nicks to rim, body, and base, and fading to some textured surfaces, otherwise intact and very good. Nice earthen deposits throughout and light encrustations on shoulder.
