Description:

East Asia, China, Warring States Period, ca. 475 to 221 BCE. A fine short sword, cast from leaded bronze via the lost wax technique, with a double-edged blade bearing sharpened edges, flat faces, and a pointed tip. The trapezoidal hand guard has a central crest that creates a raised midpoint within the intricate curvilinear motifs. The tubular handle has two bulging finger rings beneath a cupped pommel. Traces of the original wood sheath are still visible along the blade and just beneath the hand guard, and the entire sword is covered in green and brown patina. Size: 17.4" L x 1.625" W (44.2 cm x 4.1 cm)
