Description:

East Asia, China, Han Dynasty, ca. 206 BCE to 220 CE. A fascinating multi-component cast bronze vessel with a tall spout that flares outward in a four-lobed "onion" form at its center before narrowing to a thin cylinder. Via a middle component, now lost, this spout would have fit into the wide, bell-shaped lower body of the vessel, which stands a raised disc foot and has a flanged shoulder. This item was made to hold offerings of wine and other liquids in a tomb. Size (vessel): 7.9" W x 7" H (20.1 cm x 17.8 cm); (spout): 2.9" W x 6.9" H (7.4 cm x 17.5 cm)
