Description:

China, Qing Dynasty, ca. 1750 CE. A petite, cast iron depiction of Shakyamuni Buddha, traditionally robed and seated in full lotus position atop a double lotus throne pedestal, displaying the dhyana mudra with both hands placed in his lap, right hand on left with stretched fingers and palms facing upwards. This gesture of meditation is consonant with his contemplative peaceful visage comprised of downcast eyes, an elegant nose, pursed lips, and characteristically elongated ears. Cast from a two part mold. A nice example! Size: 6" x 3-3/4" x 2-1/3" (15.2 x 9.5 x 5.8 cm)
